Adhayan Changes Kangana Music Style

While talking about music, let us tell you about Kangna Ranaut’s new musical beginnings. For a long time her taste in music was Indian classical, ghazals, film songs etc. Much like Rekha was into the ghazals of Mehndi Hasan (and still is), Kangna is an avid Jagjit Singh fan, and like any other die-hard fan she craves to watch his live shows. Now ever since loverboy Adhyayan Suman has come into her life, there’s been a musical turn.

Yeah, he’s been introducing his gal to different genres of western music — from pop, rock, jazz to hip-hop and girl bands. We don’t know which one Ms K is grooving too, but apparently she’s taking a keen interest in Adhyayan’s musical tastes.

Or maybe it is her own roles that are pushing her to a new musical edge. She is doing salsa and hip-hop numbers for Kites with Hrithik Roshan, and being familiar with the music has only made her moves easy. Now of course, an awesome mover like Hrithik can make anyone shake their booty, but you can’t deny that this Kangna-Adhyayan love story is totally upbeat.

Kangana Ranaut Sensuous in "Ek Niranjan"

Kangana Ranaut is at it again! She can’t resist shedding clothes and revealing her sensuous curves, whenever she gets a chance and most importantly, money. Her looks may have a demure sort of appeal but when it comes to doing bold scenes, Kangana Ranaut remains supreme. All her films have love-making sequences but this time round, she is taking a step further, by doing a nude scene.

The actress is currently in Hyderabad shooting for her first Telugu movie, "Ek Niranjan" starring Prabhas and Sonu Sood and directed by Puri Jagannath. According to a source, “Kangana`s role requires her to do a nude scene and she has agreed to do it. No body double will be used for the same. She has been paid a whopping amount for the role."

Kangana always manages to impress so lets see how this turns out

Treat: Video of Kangana on CNN-IBN (November 20, 2008)

Watch Kangna Ranaut On Location on the sets of Raaz -The Mystery Continues, as she talks about the movie, controversies and more.

Update: "Kites"

Sources claim Hrithik Roshan is taking a very active interest in the post production of his home production Kites. The film stars Hrithik along side Spanish starlet Barbara Mori and Kangana Ranaut and is directed by Anurag Basu. We all know Hrithik started as an assistant director to his filmmaker father Rakesh Roshan and he seems to be using all his experience and expertise for the film’s good.

Reveal sources, “Kites is extremely close to Hrithik’s heart and he is giving it his all he can to ensure it emerges as a great product. Hrithik therefore has been taking deep interest in every single aspect of the making of the film. Now that the shooting of the film is as good as over, the post production work of the film has begun. Hrithik nowadays can be seen at the post production studio where the work on the film is being done. But he is not forcing his views on Basu and only giving his valuable suggestions whenever he feels they are necessary. Apparently he comes at the same time that Anurag Basu comes to the studio and stays there till the very end and then goes back to Hotel JW Marriott in Juhu where he is put up with his wife n kids as his house is being refurbished".

Also it is said that Hrithik is sporting a new look for "Kites" which was seen when he launched the MacroMan Underwear. Sources revealed, “Hrithik is soon going to shoot a special song and dance number for his home production Kites. Though the shoot of the film is over, this is a special number which shall be used extensively to promote the film in India and abroad where it is also going to be released in its English version. For this song, Hrithik is keen on sporting a long hair look. He is playing a Salsa dance instructor in the film and feels this look may be apt for the dance number. But Hrithik is smartly hiding his growing locks by tying all his hair behind and not leaving it open like a typical pony tail the way Big B and SRK did when they sported the same.”

Congratulations Kangana!

I am happy to say that Kangana Ranaut has been nominated at the IIFA Awards 2009 for her striking performance in "Fashion". Amitabh Bachchan gave out all the information and the location for the awards will be in Macau. Kangana competes against Bipasha Basu, Ila Arun, Kirron Kher and Shahana Goswami. Earlier, Kangana had won awards for her performance in "Fashion" at the Stardust Awards and Filmfare Awards. I am very happy for Kangana whether she wins or not because she has now created a niche for herself in Bollywood and her career is looking really bright as she will be seen in "Kites", "Vaada Raha", "Ek Niranjan", "Once Upon A Time in Mumbai" and the recently signed "No Problem".

Kangana bonds with Sushmita

Kangna intends to have a ball on the sets of her first comedy No Problem. “So far I’ve never had fun on the sets. All the character I’ve played have been introverted and troubled. So I’ve been in my shell. During Fashion Madhur Bhandarkar used to scold me for being in a shell all the time. But if I play insecure paranoid characters I can’t be laughing and playing around. But it was the nature of the characters. For Anees Bazmi’s film I’m changing completely. I’m going to organize parties on the sets, constantly crack Santa-Banta jokes and most important of all, I will bond with Sushmita. Hopefully our bonding will last beyond one film.”

After signing a film together, Sushmita Sen has taken the lovely Kangna Ranaut under her wings. Always known to be warm towards her co-stars Sushmita has taken a special fancy to Kangana because of her facial resemblance to Sushmita’s daughter Renee.

Says Kangna, “On the first day that we met we struck a special chord in each other’s hearts. I was standing at a premiere and she came up to me. She held my face in her hands and said I’ve hair exactly like her daughter. And that whenever she saw me she was reminded of her daughter. From that moment onwards we bonded. Luckily I play Sushmita’s sister in the film that we’re doing together. I love calling her Didi.”

Kangna is pleased as hell to be finally doing comedy. “I was really hurt when people said I was destined only to play tragic roles. I wanted to do comedy for the longest time. And that I’ve Sushmita playing my sister in the film is an added bonus. We’ll have a ball playing sisters.”

The film is Anees Bazmi’s comedy No Problem produced by Anil Kapoor.

Says Kangna, “I had decided whenever I do my first comedy it would have to be either with Anees Bazmi or David Dhawan. Everyone thought I was wrong for the part in No Problem. No one was convinced I could do comedy, not after playing all those traumatized roles. But Anilji convinced everyone that I could do it.”

Real Story Behind Flexy Stu's replacement

Anurag Basu’s Kites is certainly one of those films everyone is waiting for with bated breath. Not only because Hrithik Roshan is paired opposite Spanish actress Barbara Mori but also because it’s one of the first few Indian films that is being made in true international style. From the story to the screenplay to the technicians, everything has a global feel. However, even with so many positives, the film has managed to stay in the news for all the wrong reasons. Be it Hrithik’s alleged affair with Barbara Mori, Rakesh Roshan’s spat with cinematographer Bobby Singh, the major losses the movie incurred because of Hurricane Ike in Mexico or the spook fest the cast and crew had to face while shooting in Santa Fe (New Mexico).

The ride has not been easy. And well, that’s definitely not all. There’s more to add to the already very long list of mishaps.
According to the latest buzz, Flexy Stu, the international choreographer who was supposed to choreograph the Salsa routines in the movie has been replaced by Indian Salsa expert Sandip Soparkar, following a major fight with Roshan junior.
Not too long ago Hrithik had roped in US-based Flexy Stu for a special song in Kites.
Hrithik was leaving no stone unturned in order to make his home production bigger and better. And Stu fitted the bill perfectly as both of them had shared a great rapport since the time the former choreographed Hrithik’s steps for a biscuit commercial. Subsequently, it was also said, Hrithik was so happy with Stu’s work that he recommended him for his other endorsements as well.

Amidst all this, the news of Hrithik and Flexy’s fall-out naturally came as quite a surprise. Nevertheless, if insiders are to be believed, they have had such a huge argument that the damage is irreparable. “Stu had already worked with Hrithik before so everybody thought they would create magic. Everything seemed fine initially but things started going wrong when Flexy took charge of a rather complicated Salsa song sequence. Half-way through it, Flexy wasn’t able to live up to Hrithik’s expectations.

They tried various ways to sort things out as Stu had completed major parts of the choreography, but things only worsened. Hrithik and Stu ended up having a huge fight. Because of their differences of opinions, Stu was logically asked to leave,” adds the source.
As they say, one person’s loss is another person’s gain. And that’s how Sandip Soparkar stepped in. According to a unit member, it was Sunaina Roshan who recommended Sandip’s name.

Her reason for suggesting his name was that in India, one could only look up to Sandip for good Salsa. Our informer also maintains that Rakesh Roshan was very pleased with Sunaina’s choice and immediately handed over the responsibility of choreographing the other dance sequences to Sandip.
We tried contacting Hrithik and Flexy to get a confirmation on the story but both remained unavailable for comment. Although when we contacted Sandip he was unexpectedly very forthcoming about the situation. He openly admitted to having replaced Stu.

“Working on Kites has been no less than a roller-coaster ride. Sunaina was the person who considered me for this lifetime opportunity. Teaching Hrithik and Kangna (Ranaut) to dance to Salsa was quite an experience as a particular song was half done by Flexy Stu and I had to adapt the same style to avoid patchy work,” he paused and continued.
“As a choreographer it was quite a task because each individual has different perspectives even though the dance form is Salsa. But it was great as Hrithik is known for his fantastic dancing skills and Kangna for her hard work. I don’t think everyone gets such opportunities in life and I guess God has been extremely kind to me,” added Sandip.

Controversy Over Hrithik Cursing

The star opted for nothing less than the “MF” expletive while rehearsing his dance steps for Kites . It’s all caught on camera.
Hrithik Roshan , the Bollywood star known for his decorum, both in speech and action, has inadvertently committed a faux pas. A video posted on YouTube has been getting a lot of hits because it shows Hrithik shooting off his mouth and uttering the ‘tabooed’ cuss word “m****r f****r” into the camera.

The leaked clip, apparently taped by choreographer Flexy Stu (who’s choreographed Hrithik’s dances in the actor’s home production ‘Kites’), shows co-star Kangana Ranaut practising her dance steps with a female assistant of Flexy. Moments later, Hrithik walks in and joins the dance rehearsals. At the video’s end, Flexy pans the camera and introduces Hrithik. In response, the star points towards Flexy and says: “This is the baddest m****r f****r in the world.”

Of course, the remark is not meant as an insult but is ironically a compliment for Flexy as a tough task master. But those who take things literally have been getting offended by Hrithik’s remark. And some of these folks are fans of Hrithik who have responded critically after watching the video.

The two-minute clip has got thousands of hits and some offended fans are demanding the video to be edited or completely removed.

Scans from Kangana's FHM India Shoot

Here is the exclusive interview Kangana had with FHM and also some scans. The entire interview can be seen in the magazine, but here is an excerpt:
Kangna Ranaut: Girl, Uninterrupted
Ethereal, intelligent and deep, Kangna Ranaut belies her physical frailty. The girl from the mountains prefers to make things happen rather than waiting for them to happen to her.

You are drop dead gorgeous and you play disturbed, edgy characters really well. The rest is all fuzzy Wikipedia-Google woven conjecture. Why not start at the very beginning? Tell me, how did a girl from the small hill town of Bhambla in Himachal Pradesh end up in Delhi?

It didn't happen overnight. It wasn't like something happened one fine day that changed my life. But I was quite different from childhood. I always used to have this feeling that I was not an ordinary kid. I never felt like I belonged to the mountains where I grew up. I always had this fascination for cities. People in Himachal Pradesh, where I grew up, are pretty isolated from the rest of the population. My parents would never bother about what's happening in the big bad world. But I was very curious.

You fought with your parents and shifted to Delhi. You were just 15 or 16.... How were those days? Did you have to struggle to survive?

Of course, those were difficult days. But now that I have been through it all and attained the position that I am in today, I look back and feel that all those difficulties, all those penniless days...those were the most beautiful days of my life. I was like a completely blank person. I didn't know what I was doing.

Adhyayan Upset With Kangana

Adhyayan Suman and Kangana Ranaut have always created news whenever they have made appearances together. The latest rumour is that Adhyayan is quite upset with Kangana Ranaut. She is busy shooting for a Telugu movie and the amount which Kangana Ranaut has charged has compelled her to shoot a couple of bold scenes. Adhyayan Suman seems to be really upset about all this and is spending most of the his time in the gym working out, which would help him keep his mind off Kangana for the time being. He is working out for the film "Dekh Bhai Dekh" that he acts with his father, Shekhar Suman.

Adhyayn-Kangana love each other!

Raaz - The Mystery Continues: On Location Pictures, Images and Photos
Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut, who is playing opposite Prabhas in his upcoming film Ek Niranjan has caught red-handed with her boy friend here in the city.

Kangana and her boyfriend Adhyayan Suman is one celebrity couple that don’t believe in keeping their relationship under the wraps. According to sources, the couple was spotted getting a little too cosy in the VIP lounge in Excess on Saturday night, unperturbed by the attention their PDA was attracting.

RUMORS AND MORE RUMORS!

This doesn't seem to stop. I heard that Jiah Khan will replace Kangana in "Kites". This is not true one bit. People need to stop spreading these rumors because Kangana is not the type of person to reply to media and epsecially when it is so stupid. How can Kangana be replaced when the movie has been shot already and is in post-production. Also Jiah Khan is so busy with her 3 movie deals with YashRaj after being dropped from "Yahoo". Don't listen to the rumors, Kangana is still in "Kites" and people just want to malign her because she is very successful than other actresses who began at her time.

Rumors: Kangana troubles Roshans

In this world, there are so many rumors within the entertainment industries. I understand that, but they are so crazy and stupid. I came across some news that Kangana was throwing tantrums on the sets of "Kites" because she felt as if Barbara Mori and Hrithik Roshan were getting all the limelight. Now, that makes no sense because they play the main characters and Kangana knew that when she signed the movie. They are even rumors that Rakesh and Hrithik never wanted Kangana in the film, but they let it go since she is Anurag's favorite. That makes no sense again because she said in an interview that Rakesh is like a mentor to her and Hrithik is even quite fond of her teaching her dancemoves and calling her "catwalker". They even said that Kangana would miss some days, which I know isn't true. Then they said that she even wanted her own designer, but Rakesh overlooked it. That could be true because Kangana loves to make her own clothes because she is fashionable, DUH!! Now they even said that Kangana does not want to do the film anymore and doesn't attend group meetings. Shooting is OVER so that don't even make sense!!!!!! I just want to make her fans know that they were made up lies. Look, if you want to write something about anyone, make sure it is the truth and at least accurate because that article made no hell of a sense.

More information on dance sequence with Hrithik and Kangana

Choreographer Sandip Soparrkar is flying high with Kites, the film that has him teaching dance floor moves to Hritik Roshan and Kangana Ranaut

He had short listed three dream students for those perfect moves and when the opportunity dawned to teach one of them, we know for sure that for this dance teacher, it was the coming true of a long-held desire. Choreographing Hrithik Roshan for Kites, salsa expert and ballroom dance whiz Sandip Soparrkar boasts of one of the best students he has ever had.

Kites, directed by Anurag Basu, is a romantic film on an Indian boy’s affair with a Latino girl. Hrithik plays a salsa teacher, while Kangana is Hrithik’s dance student. Set in Las Vegas, the film also has Barbara Mori playing a Spanish girl. Scheduled to release in a couple of months, Soparrkar has choreographed two of the four songs in the film. “Hrithik is such a superb dancer; he grasped the moves very quickly and added his own style to it; we finished the sequences in four days. But, the biggest surprise package was Kangana, who I was told to be careful with and that she is a bad dancer and so on. Though, when we started, she was just fabulous and gave the sequences her total dedication, when neither of them are trained in this style of dancing. We shot them in Bombay on a Las Vegas set since the film is based in that city,” he adds.

In the coming days, Soparrkar has many projects lined up, including Phir Kabhi, which has Mithun Chakrabarthy and Dimple Kapadia dancing to his moves, Rafta 24x7 with Emraan Hashni and so on. Soparrkar, whose wishlist is topped by Madhuri Dixit and Helen, also has international projects lined up, including choreographing Penelope Cruz in the musicalNine. Speaking more about the shoot he says, “The songs have more of Salsa and some steps of Samba and Bassonova. One of the songs is a classroom sequence where Hrithik teaches his students and it was more about replicating how I coach my students. The other is the final competition when Hrithik and Kangana dance together as a pair. It was great teaching them and I am actually amazed, seeing how swiftly they learnt,”

Kangana Ranaut met Sona

Kangana is all charged up with her role in Milan Lutharia’s Once Upon A Life Time. The film is based on the then don of the city Haji Mastan whose role is being essayed by Ajay Devgan. While Kangana plays his love interest in the film. Yesteryear actress Sona who then resembled late actress Madhubala was the don’s love interest.

Kangana will be playing Sona’s role in the film. There was a buzz that Kangana decided to meet the the yesteryear actress before taking on the role and she wanted to know the details and nuances of that character. Sources inform that when Kangana finally met her, Sona advised Kangana to watch the films of the 70’s and the 80’s. When actresses like Sharmila Tagore, Hema Malini, Asha Parekh were at the top. Sona also advised her to learn how these actresses dressed and carried themselves.

The film explores the growth of underworld in the city, in the 70s and the 80s. The film will also star Emraan Hashmi and Prachi Desai and is expected to go on floors in May. Most of the film will be shot in the city itself, except for a few sequences which will be shot in Dubai and Bangkok.

This is not the first that Kangana is playing the role of a gangsters moll. She played a similar role in Mahesh Bhatt’s Gangster.

The actress is looking forward to Kites with Hrithik Roshan and Samir Karnik’s Yeh Vaada Raha opposite Bobby Deol.

That seems to be the latest talk which is happening among the film circles. It is known news that the slender sizzler from Bollywood Kangana Ranaut has been roped in for the new movie ‘Ek Niranjan’ that is being directed by Puri Jagannadh and this has young rebel star Prabhas in the lead.

Given the spate of flops that both Puri and Prabhas have been going through, all eyes are now on Kangana to see if she turns out to be the lucky mascot.

Apparently, Kangana has pulled off some really unexpected hits in Bollywood and since then she has become a hot property out there.

Now, she has been paid a fortune for her Telugu debut and the Tollywood folks are hoping that Kangana comes up with her charms and turns the tables for Prabhas who needs a hit very badly.

She accessorized with silver belle flats and showy jewels that included chunky tikka on her forehead, loop earrings, bib necklace, yellow and silver bangles in both her arms and anklets. Her hair was neatly pulled back and tied at the back, adorned with fresh flowers. The Himachal beauty kept her makeup light, letting her natural peaches and cream complexion be the focus.

Vaada Raha is an emotional drama. “It gives out the message saying that one should never lose hope. It is a family-oriented film based on relationships. Bobby plays a doctor, who is faced with an incident that changes his life forever,” says Samir.

Speaking about his experience working with Bobby and Kangana, the director says, “This is the third time that I’m working with Bobby. He is a fantastic human being and he has now become my favourite actor. I enjoy shooting with him. Kangana is a talented actress.”

The film was to be released this month but owing to differences between producers and exhibitors, it will now release in May.

Anurag Basu on Kites

Anurag Basu talks about his much-awaited film Kites and how he achieved a fine working balance with both Rakesh Roshan and the film’s lead, Hrithik Roshan

Anurag Basu, who shares a great rapport with UTV (courtesy Metro), will be the director of the month for UTV world movies, where he will be selecting some of his favourite international films to be shown on the channel. Among the two films, the director Gangster and Murder has selected are A Short Film About Love and Three Colors Trilogy (Red, Blue & White).

At the onset, this director of troubled love stories admits his exposure to international cinema has been very limited. “I grew up in a place called Bhilai, so access to world cinema was hardly there. I have a long list of films I have yet to see. I need to catch up with all those films and educate myself,” he says.

His exposure to international cinema may be limited, but Basu is probably one of the few directors of recent times who brings a certain subtlety to his stories. “It’s not something I’ve borrowed from the West. The thing is I hate underlying each and every emotion. I don’t like feeding the audience. I like my characters to act the way they would in real life in a similar situation,” he tells us.

Besides subtlety, another one of his strengths happens to be his crisp, award-winning screenplays. Basu reasons, “There are only limited stories out there…practically, everything has been written and filmed. So it really boils down to how different can you make a story that you’ve heard before. It’s like narrating a little joke – how much you enjoy it will depend on how well the person narrates it,” he says.

Clearly, his talent has impressed the industry, and Basu has gone on to bigger and better things since he started with the Bhatts a few years ago. Today, he’s doing the much-awaited Kites with none other than the super elusive Hrithik Roshan. “I started with television actually,” he reminds you, giving you an idea of his truly commendable ascent.

But for someone who has done some great work even with smaller budgets and stars, how did he feel accepting a mega budget film like Kites? Did he ever think his freedom as a creative person could be compromised? “It was a great honour, I had always shied away from working with big stars. Like you say, there was a fear that maybe I would not get the freedom I need and the star would dictate the project. But I gave it a try with Kites and I must say Hrithik has been so easy to work with,” he says about his hero.

As for his favourite actress Kangana Ranaut, who he insisted as lead for Kites, here’s what he says about her getting stuck in the image of a living- on-the-edge, neurotic character. “I don’t know why everyone, including me, casts her in such serious roles. She’s actually very fun-loving,” he says. So is she doing something similar in Kites too, “Well, yes, a little bit,” he admits sheepishly and adds, “But I think she will manage to come out of it with her films with Anees Bazmi and others.”

Talking about how Kites happened, he says, “Rakesh Roshan called me to his office and asked me if I had any ideas for a film. At that point of time, I only had stories which needed an ensemble cast. He said, ‘No, I need something for Hrithik as the single protagonist’ That’s when he gave me a one –line idea and asked me if I could develop a screenplay. I went back and wrote it. When I narrated it to both Rakesh Roshan and Hrithik, they both liked it,” he says.

With a senior filmmaker like Rakesh Roshan around, one would imagine that there would obviously be a certain creative involvement from his side also. With both directors being from different schools of filmmaking, were there any serious differences at any point? “When I was writing the script, I used Rakeshji’s experience and incorporated his ideas. He has a pulse on the mass reaction, he knows their taste, and I found that useful in the scripting stage. But once we began shooting, I had complete freedom,” he tells us, adding, “ For me, it was a great honour that another director was offering me the opportunity to direct such an important film. And the best part about it is that the whole shooting went off so smoothly.”
Kites will come out on October or August.

Kangana's role in "Roshan"

kangana Pictures, Images and Photos
Kangna Ranaut has turned out to be the film industry’s darkness horse. Can we be so enamoured by an actress playing characters that teeter
dangerously on the edge, that it becomes unimaginable to see her play a regular woman, even though the scripts demands it? That’s what has happened with Kangana Ranaut.

In Samir Karnik’s Roshan, Kangana plays a regular girl, without any grey shades. Says Karnik, “However, the audience is so used to seeing Kangna playing dark characters that we felt compelled to throw in a shade of grey to her character. We altered the script towards the end and have now put in a grey twist in the character’s graph. In Kangna’s case, her image does precede her talent. It was like this with Vyjayanthimala earlier. Dance was somehow included in all her films — even if she played a physically challenged woman.”

“I’m proud of the characters I’ve played in my earlier films,” says Kangana. “Now if the directors can only see me play a particular kind of a character, then that’s something to hold on to, isn’t it?”

Kangana Ranaut performing at Finale of Femina Miss India

For her show on 5th April for Femina, Kangana will be paying a tribute to two screen queens Madhuri Dixit and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

And when she got to know that Priyanka Chopra too will be performing Kangana gladly gave over the Fashion songs to her colleague and friend.

Says Kangna, “When I got to know that Priyanka is performing I asked her about her songs. When she said she was doing the Fashion songs I happily decided to do the tribute to Aishwarya and Madhuri. I’ll be dancing to tracks like Madhuri’s Mera piya ghar aaya and Aishwarya’s Nimbooda. This gives me a chance to try out my Kathak which I’ve been learning for three years.”

So much for the belief that two actresses can never get along together. Ironically Abhishek Bachchan and Priyanka Chopra couldn’t agree over the allotting of songs from Dostana during the Filmfare Awards.

Priyanka had ultimately opted out. Says Kangana, “I think girl bonding is very cool. I can’t say Priyanka and I best friends. I think two actresses fighting is very unfashionable. After Fashion there’s a comfort level. And if we can share a platform without getting in one another’s way then isn’t that just great?”

Non-stop dancing for two back-to-back shows has taken its toll on Kangna Ranaut’s legs. On Friday when she was scheduled to perform for an FM channel Kangana’s legs could barely move.

Wincing in pain Kangna recounted her horror. “On Thursday I kept rehearsing non-stop for two shows for six hours. I never realised what I was putting myself through until the next morning when I woke up with swollen legs.”Kangna somehow managed to drag herself to the show where she danced to her Fashion tracks.
The show will showcase live on Sony Entertainment Television at 8:00PM with Asin, Ajay Devgan and Sushmita Sen. Malaika Arora and R. Madhavan are the hosts. Genelia D'Souza will also perform along with Kangana and Priyanka.

Kangana Tells All

Pic: Prabhas and Kangana on the sets of "Ek Niranjan"
The picture-perfect 20-something might have made a successful career out of playing ‘dark’ roles in most of her films
(Gangster, Woh Lamhe, Fashion and even Raaz2), but those are just “reel coincidences,” she says. In real life she’s down-to-earth, level-headed and shows a maturity beyond her years. After a hectic shooting stint for a Telugu film, Kangana settles down for an exclusive interview with Hyderabad Times in her hotel room. For someone who’s being touted as the ‘highest’ paid female actor in Tollywood, Kangana would have us believe that language doesn’t “matter. Bollywood, Tollywood or Kollywood, makes no difference to me. I’m an actress who’s willing to do films in any language,” she asserts.

Of course, doing a Tamil or a Telugu film is no cakewalk for the Arian. She admits that she has to “work doubly hard. For instance, memorising up the lines and working on pronunciation involves lots of effort. However, there are some words that are common in Tamil and Telugu,” she avers.

Kangana owes her perfect 10 figure to a dedicated fitness regime that includes “yoga”, even amid her daily grind (she’s “up every morning by 4 am” and sleeps only at midnight). For someone who trusts her “instincts” while selecting films, 2009 has lots to offer — Anurag Basu’s Kites (opposite Hrithik Roshan), No Problem opposite Akshaye Khanna and Milan Luthria’s Once Upon A Time In Mumbai. Ironically, even in Kites she plays an obsessive character, something she’s done before. “Every character on screen has some resemblance to the real life characters they are inspired by. As an actor I believe in doing justice to my roles. Milan wants me to meet yesteryear actor Sona (the woman who Haji Mastan loved), on whose life Once Upon A Time In Mumbai is based. I listen to what my directors
tell me,” she says.
Considering she’s doing a lot of Tamil and Telugu films, does she have favourites? And Kangana is at her diplomatic best: “I admire Rajnikanth and Nagarjuna a lot.”
And surprise, surprise! Kangana doesn’t “want to talk” about boyfriend Adhyayan Suman even as she flashes her 1,000 megawatt smile and bids us goodbye.
Some raaz ki baat that!

Kangana may sue a newspaper publication

This is to place on record that a completely false and defamatory article appeared today on Kangna Ranaut, in one of the leading publication stating the actor was claiming to be younger than she really is. The article displayed an obvious intention by sources quoted to damage the reputation of Kangna Ranaut.

The editor of the newspaper has been contacted by Kangna Ranaut's representatives on this issue, and shown proof to the contrary of what has been published. The publication has consequently apologised and agreed to carry a public retraction on the story tomorrow.
An article such as this, however, is defamatory in nature, and tarnishes the image of the actor in the eyes of the public, and particularly the members of the film and entertainment industry and other people associated with it.

Kangna Ranaut is an established and reputable personality in the film and entertainment industry and the statements made in the article adversely affect her reputation. The contents of the article have caused her tremendous mental anguish and trauma.

In the aforesaid circumstances Kangna Ranaut has asked that the publication tender an unconditional and unequivocal apology for the false statements made in the article about her, and retract the contents of the article in the same publication. The publication has agreed to do so.

She also plans to adopt appropriate criminal and/or civil proceedings against the publication for printing false and defamatory articles about her without verification of facts prior to publishing, and for the tremendous mental anguish caused by the news.
